Bulawan Issue 09 (2024)

The Nagkahiusang Magsusulat sa Cagayan de Oro (NAGMAC) launches BUKLAD: RECONSTRUCTING EROTICA, the ninth issue of the Bulawan Literary Journal of Northern Mindanao.

Even as desire continues to take a backseat to the demands of a slowly burning world, we have been casually overwhelmed by a seemingly inescapable deluge of sexual suggestions and images in the media we consume. Through this new issue of Bulawan, which contains literary works by writers from Northern Mindanao and beyond, we hope to address the seams and gaps that tell us what we think of and how we deal with sex and intimacy—as both a normal human function and a rebellious act—and provide a revitalized representation of sex on the page.

Bulawan is a multilingual journal published by Bulawan Books, the indie publication arm of NAGMAC. It is one of many NAGMAC-organized platforms for local writers to showcase their talents to an audience of creative enthusiasts who appreciate their work.
